I suggest, if you can't leave the counter alone, to:

Take the current count and subtract from 50K. Then,
Divide that number by the number of days left in November.
New Daily Wordcount goal.

In this way, your slow days do not bring down the average, or increase the daily WC requirement by very much at all. Rinse and repeat once per day, before you begin writing. If this causes stress, tension, or frustration pass me your coffee and nanocookies. You're on a caffeine rush!
