MumstheWord ![]() ![]() This may be one of those times where you pick one particular person / conflict, and let your fingers / pen / keyboard roam free and see what comes up. Sometimes, I've found, you just let the story write itself and see what gets created. I just did that a little while, coming up with an NFL football discussion between a main character and a supporting character who to that point had not even existed. Yet it worked, because it served as something of a distraction for the main character from a problem he was having trouble facing. And it may eventually lead to something else for him to deal with. In an earlier instance of that kind of writing, my other major character had an asthma attack -- and until that point, I never knew she had asthma! Are you looking for a particular resolution to any of the various emotional issues you've created? if so, see what might be required to get there. And also see if the problems can actually be resolved or not (the non-resolution may actually work out better, depending on the situation you have). By the way, I've not hit the halfway point yet. But I am right around 15,500 words as I write this, and I'm feeling good about the plotted story elements I still have available to work with. Plus, I didn't even start until the third (two days late). Yet, at the risk of bragging a little, I am now over 3800 words ahead of where NaNoWriMo's "daily target schedule" says I need to be at midnight tonight. All I can say to that is... WOW! I'm hoping that, given that sort of pace, I can be right around 25,000 words when I go to sleep Monday morning (I work overnights, and am off this weekend). Mums, and everyone else, keep on writing... and have fun doing it!! ![]() SkyHawk - Into The Music ![]() ![]() ![]() |
