The WDC NanoLounge

Although we have a spare room in which I can write, my laptop and books are in a corner in the living area. Most of the time, the TV is on and my husband keeps talking to me; also, I'm also minding the cooking in the kitchen a few steps away from where I am.
Actually, I like absolute quiet, but I can't get it, because my husband (now retired) doesn't like to sit alone. So, I do what I can with earphones, earplugs etc.
I'm writing this novel, more or less, chapter by chapter. If an idea occurs to me that can be used later on, I jot it down in a separate idea file or a piece of paper. Before I write a chapter, I write the plot points of that chapter longhand, somewhere else in the house where I can think better.
I, too, hear the characters' voices in my head while I write, and I like poetry to keep me going. Music distracts me because I like it too much. The danger is, I might leave my writing to listen to it fully.
