Wow. That's a hard one. I have no idea what one does about parents that don't support something you enjoy doing. I have to admit it makes me upset with your parents. I mean... Heck. What's a better use of extra time, as long as you're caught up with your school work, than writing? I'd rather my kids wrote stories or drew pictures than played the XBox or computer games. Um. Yeah. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this one. Perhaps you could ask them why they think it's a waste of time? Is there a way to do that without tempers flaring up and making things worse? Just because you have a mild form of dyslexia doesn't mean you can't enjoy writing. We all have the desire to create within us, it just takes its form in various ways. Yours obviously finds its outlet through writing. Maybe it's a "simple" thing dating back to when they were younger. They hated writing and viewed it as a waste of time or enjoyed it at one time until someone shut them down in some manner. There's no telling. NaNo takes so much time and effort, that I don't know if there's a way to "hide it." Unless you disguise it as any other writing you enjoy doing. Do they accept that? However, I will say I don't recommend hiding it. Stuff like that usually bites you in the behind later on.
