I would STRONGLY counsel to respect your parents' wishes, but I would also encourage you to keep writing (in general, not necessarily *for* NaNo). You might want to show them some of the information on the NaNoWriMo.Org homepage about the Young Writers Project? I don't know that they would be persuaded, but it may be worth mentioning. I would think that if you are a dyslexic, they may want to encourage you to write... just maybe not as intensive as National Novel Writing Month. We also have a group for young writers here on the site that you might want to try: "Invalid Item"
Basically-- if you're under 18? Your parents, their rules, no question about it! but hopefully they do see the benefit of your interest in writing.
