Does anyone else, and this is like a P.S. without being one, ever play the "who will die in the landing party" game? I think this is a more unifying query because it embraces the inherent silliness that goes with enjoying Star Trek, the tongue-in-cheek acceptance of certain predictable absurdities.

Oh those poor, hapless, red-shirted fourth and fifth crewmen on the transporter pad...
