I don't think you can tell a lot about a person by reading one story, but if you look at a lot of stories, you can. Storytelling is like daydreaming. You can psychoanalyse stories just like dreams. I do it to mine; it's the main reason I write them. I was on another website last year and many of the author's idents did not allow you to tell whether the author was male or female. I was surprised how often you could tell just by reading a short story whether it was a male of female.
