One problem I have frequently found is that my plot is worked out in my subconscious and I don't always understand the plot myself. Sounds really silly, doesn't it. I have found that if I change the plot myself, the rest of the story becomes unglued later. I have had to learn to trust my subconscious and go for long walks and try to understand the plot. I wrote several stories two or three years ago and only recently worked out how to smoothe out the ragged edges of the plot. The majority of the stories in my portfolio were written middle - beginning - end. It is only this year that I have managed to write from the beginning. I found the Carl Jung book 'Man and his Symbols' very helpful.
