I think I agree with you on the fact characters are based off of their author. My brother and I worked on a story (Unfortunately not posted on Writing.com) where we had a number of characters based off of ourselves. It's also interesting because recently, I was analyzing the plot and the journey the main character reflects my life in a lot of ways.
I do have one question though, do you believe that villains are based off of their author in some way?
