A nano place to chat about NanoWrimo... |
You can do it! One trick is to remember that any writing is better than no writing. Even if you don't make it to 50k, you still made it further than you were before November. It took me three years to finally win NaNoWriMo, and the Prep Challenge that was already suggested was a big help. The first year I spent October prepping was the first year I made it to 50k. Some ideas will write easier than others, no matter how much you love them. I love the one I wrote my second year and even though I didn't "win" I'm editing the book to submit to agents in the near future. On the other hand, the one I wrote for march 2010 had similar elements since it was in the same world and yet I wrote 67k in one month. It's hard to tell how a story will go, what will happen during the month. Just try to do your best and write whenever you can. Having friends who are taking part helps, on twitter or WDC, wherever you hang out (as long as it doesn't distract you too much like it does me). Good luck.
