Try to make a paradigm to figure out Act 1, Act 2, and Act 3. Syd Field came up with the 3 act structure for movies, and it works for novels, too. For a 120-page screenplay, Act one is 30 pages long, Act 2 is 60 pages long, and Act 3 is 30 pages long. For a 24 chapter novel, Act 1 could be 6 chapters, Act 2 could be 12 chapters, and Act 3 could be 6 chapters long. I'll try to give you a link to an article at Wikipedia that will help you.
