My advice, ESPECIALLY if you're new to NaNo, is not to fret over the details now. The point of NaNoWriMo is to get the words out there, on paper, so you have something to work with -- not to create a polished final product.
My first and second NaNos, there were times I would skip scenes or paragraphs I didn't fully know what to do with. I'd leave a little note saying something like,
[add a brief scene in here where she goes home and sees the book on the shelf but doesn't do anything about it]
Some people will do a lot of planning, research and outlining ahead of November 1. But if you haven't, don't sweat it now. There will be plenty of time after November 30 to get the details straight -- and then, you'll have a full manuscript to work with.
I hope this helps! Good luck with your first NaNo
