I had the same trouble but was using my iphone. Signed in on the ipad and there it is under the menu on the left hand side. Same place on the laptop. So...I was able to activate the counter on my iphone but not see it. Oh well, it is here now and although I am behind pace, still making forward progress. Hope you are doing the same.
