Keep trying, tmor, but don't try to hard and overthink the whole thing. Do not paralyze yourself due to a desire to be perfect. This is draft zero, You can write a page, then not have a segue, and start the next page with Chapter X. You can fix it later. November is getting to 50,000 words, and hopefully have a story. It may need more in the beginning, it may fall off a cliff and unexplainably and miraculously survive, get rescued by US Marines in a helicopter, and then sail off into the sunset with one (or more ![]() If you keep fantasizing about the best scene in your book, rather than the point you are at now, write that instead. Then you can wonder about how your characters got there, and what are they going to do after that. And keep counting those words too, even if there is a gap. Over the weekend, I put in '*** add two pages of dialogue here***' and moved onto the next chapter. I was not in the mood to write unbelieveable things and realized I had wasted time staring at my screen for whole minutes. I need an infusion of news, policticians and talk shows.
