When I first started, I was thinking like a competitor. I had thought that the thought of beating others would inspire me to excell. But I didn't. I had a hard time getting started and I couldn't write as many words as others could and I fell behind very, very quickly. A friend from scroll told me to not worry about what other folks are doing . . . just to focus on my own counts. Very good advice for me. I was then able to celebrate small victories . . . and they celebrated with me . . . even though they had lots lots more words than I did. It also allowed me to cheerfully celebrate their victories with them as well. The only place that I compete is in the occasional word war . . . which helps all of us add to our word counts! Write On!
