Okay the way you make sure you have an accurate word count is that in the next week or so the nanowrimo website will open up a word count verifier. They always wait a couple of weeks so that those that wont finish will have for the most part fallen by the wayside and the website won't be so over burdened before they make the verifier avaliable. From there, you put your work into the verifier at the end of every day that you actually write something so that you know just how far away it says you are. From there it's just a matter of staying on top of it.

Just don't wait till 11:50 in your time zone on November 30th to put in your word count. There is no need to wait if you think you have your wordcount. The winners gifts and that beautiful purple bar usually go live on November 25th. Makes a great birthday present. LOL
