Noticing Newbies

Hi! My name is Donna and I'm getting acclimated to having a computer. I spent my life doing the "have to's" i.e. becoming a nurse,getting married, having children,etc. and now have the opportunity to do something I have always loved which is writing. I love mysteries and love to write short stories with a surprise ending that have a "didn't see that one coming!" flair ala Richard Matheson. I could also do some technical writing as I have a professional medical/science background. My special interest is in homelessness in America since due to some circumstances I have had to survive a great deal myself over the years and want to help or at least raise consciousness about it. They always say write what you know and I do know about that as well as lots of other things! As you can see, my real weakness is in run-on sentences! LOL
