Noticing Newbies

For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed writing - mostly casually. Most of the things I have written over the years are short stories and essays - mostly as homework assignments throughout high school and college. I have many, many interests, so my writing covers a wide variety of subjects, and I enjoy fiction as well as non-fiction. Over the last several years (since college) I have been on a writing hiatus and have not done much, but recently felt a strong urge to begin writing again. My intentions are to eventually write books, although I have not decided whether they will be fiction, non-fiction, or both. I have considered a collections of short stories or essays. My pen name for fiction works is Artemis Aster. I thought that I would like to separate the genre's, so I came up with the pen name for fiction and will use my real name for non-fiction.
I have read some of he writing of others on this site and I am a bit nervous about posting my own work because I feel like it will pale in comparison. I hope to have something posted shortly and would love to hear any comments - good or bad! I take constructive criticism very well.
I look forward to meeting some new people and interacting on this site.
