A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
I was directed to this site thanks to my creative writing class that I'm currently taking. So far I like everything I see on the website and I'm looking forward to getting feedback on my pieces. I knew I was a decent writer since all the papers I've turn in received nothing lower than an A. Whether it was an informative essay or a creative writing assignment I just seemed to let it roll off my shoulders and I would get a pretty good grade. I was content. This semester in my creative writing class we had to write a little 2-5 page paper with multiple prompt choices. I chose the argument and went to writing. I believe I got a perfect score on the paper, but what really took me by surprise was her comments on my paper. She loved my writing style and how detailed I was. Then she dropped the bomb on me...She told me I should give it a few weeks, come back to my story, edit it once more and that I should seriously consider submitting it to a journal. I was in SHOCK that she told me this. I never thought about submitting anything to any kind of journal before. I love to write, I always have. Last year I found this website where you can write with other people, come up with characters and write along with them. It's called online role playing. I've met some extremely talented writers on there and it's fun to write back to what others have posted and REALLY get into your character. I think it's a great way to get your creative juices flowing! You can also post your pieces on a certain thread and others can critique your work. After taking this creative writing course it really sparked a fire on my writing. I'm seriously considering submitting that piece to a journal, but I just don't where to begin with that. I want to write more and really get back into writing like I used to be. I can't wait to get started on this website and get some of my writing up so y'all can take a look! |
