Hi Mchelle,
I am a newbie with much to learn, however, I can give you some advice. You are a gifted poetry writer, because it comes natural. If you have a deep desire to write short stories, I suggest you do lots of freewriting. Freewriting helps writers express their thoughts and feelings on paper.
Additionally, it will help you grasp your writing style and determine if short story is your niche.
I am obsessed with romance novels to. I look forward to getting to know you and all the best with your writing!
