Hi N.M Donald . I'm sorry you're experiencing difficulties with Writing.Com's system. There IS a learning curve here, but I believe you can overcome those difficulties rather quickly. Posting that first piece is always the hardest. "Create/Edit a Static Item"  gives you step-by-step instructions how to create a Static Item, which is the basic and most common item on WDC--this is used for stories, poems, essays and the like. Yes, there are a number of sections that need to be completed, but if you take each section one at a time and read each set of instructions, I think you'll find there's a logical sequence to creating this item. Once you've completed all sections, click on one of the Save buttons, and you should have posted your first story. If you receive any Error messages, be sure to correct the issue BEFORE you leave the window or your item will not be saved to the system.
