Noticing Newbies

Hello. My name is Mike, and I am new to this site (and at my age, I don't get to be "new" to much anymore). I live in Maine, which I believe is one of the most beautiful places in the world, as you may have judged by my "handle" Maineiac.

Over the course of my life I have met a great number of people (including a number of great people). My travels have taken me around the globe, and I have learned a great many lessons, some (in fact many) the hard way. I don't aspire to be a great writer. I don't plan to earn any money from what I write. My goal is simply to find the stories that are within me, and to tell them in the best way I can. I hope that the people I encounter here, as well as the skills that I may be able to learn, will help me to do just that. I firmly believe that we all have stories inside of us, and that one of the greatest losses is when someone dies with their stories still untold.
