Hi, Ms. Jackie Enter and be welcome! It's great to have you here. I've been a member since 2011, but only started using the site this February. I really enjoy it here. People are so kind and helpful on WDC, and I had so many questions at first. I felt I was bothering people, but no one I've asked for help displayed that attitude. I found all the information about things like writing ML to be a little intimidating, but enough people put things in words of one syllable that I could figure things out. It felt good to write and knowing that those reading it were not my family or friends was a plus; I needed objectivity, you know? There are quite a few reviewers on WDC, and I've received good, helpful reviews from some of them. I began by writing poetry for children, and found a couple of contests here that seemed doable. One was for Japanese form poems, and one was a contest that asked you to create a proverb. I've written other things since then and met a boatload of people. You asked about an upgraded membership. I started out with a free membership, and quickly moved to Basic. Someone gave me a three month Upgraded membership, and I was hooked! The longer I was here, the more room I needed in my portfolio. I love my Upgraded membership. You may want to go to the Shop and compare the benefits of different memberships. On the left side of your screen is a box with headings like Things To Do & Read. In that box is the link to the shop. The listings in that box are a great help, and I particularly recommend looking at Things To Do & Read. There are contest listings to examine, activities to participate in, and newsletter archives to read. I subscribe to four newsletters, and anticipate their arrival each week. You may want to look at the Noticing Newbies newsletter. Anyone within her first six months on WDC is a newbie. There are contests geared specifically to newbies and a forum is located further down on the list. This is a good way to meet people and ask questions. Read other people's work. I read so many things on here, and sometimes find writers that I particularly enjoy, and put them in my favorites list. I enjoy WDC and I hope I've offered you some food for thought. See you around.
