LOVE this. You make fantastic points. A great example of a colloquialism invented for a series (if I'm remembering correctly; it's been awhile since I read these): In Terry Brooks' Shannara books, the characters swear using the curse, "Shades!" It's appropriate to the series because shades are real beings who create havoc for the characters. Cheers, Michelle |
