For APP lovers, there is an app, "A Novel Idea" that is a basically a database for writers. It contains templates for "Characters", "Scenes", "Novels", "Ideas", and "Locations". The templates are extensive and they can be linked to each other. Last I looked it did not work on android devices.

Check it out, it is not perfect but it is FREE. You can purchase the upgrade that allows exporting to Pages or Dropbox, and includes a text editor with word count ($2.99). I have the App but not the upgrade.
