October Novel Prep Challenge

My characters are always rowdy and try to go off on unplanned tangents. I thought I had them in hand this time, but no, they're running amok again. Twelve days into the prep and they are switching their story and no matter how I try to rein (or lure) them in they refuse to cooperate. In truth, their storyline is much more interesting than what I had planned so I'd be a fool to argue, but this is throwing my outline into chaos and I can't figure out who the antagonist is right now. So I'll miss the contest round, but in the end I think it will be a better tale.

I'm grateful that I'm doing the prep. This would have been too much during NaNo and I probably would have thrown in the towel in frustration.
