I, too, wrote a lot of poetry in high school. I'm looking forward to reading your items after you post some. There are lots of prompts here at the site, so you'll keep busy writing, that's for sure!

If fact, if you look to your left, there is a column and one of the titles say Things to Do & Read. Click on that and you'll see a list. Activities and/or Contests is a good place to start if you are looking to become involved a little.

Be sure to take a look at "Writing.Com 101"  for lots of information... and don't feel overwhelmed. There's so much going on here, you will never run out of things to do. And guess what? You only do what you want to, nothing more.

I see you've filled in your BIO block. YAY!!! Next, try for your Biography.

If you have any questions, don't be shy! This community is full of friendly members and staff who are more than happy to steer you in the right direction or just answer questions (even if you think your questions are silly, please ask!)

I'm pretty sure you're going to like it here. This place is addicting!
