You may or may not have seen my couple of stories float by on "Read a Newbie", if not, bop on my by portfolio and take a look see. I started writing a technical blog about 15 years ago, directed towards the professional glassworker, those who work either with a torch or with a furnace full of molten glass. My real-life job is that of a manufacturing optician, I'm the guy that actually grinds the prescription into a lens and fits it into a frame. I started writing fiction back in the late 1970's, but never progressed beyond about 3 or 4 chapters in a Conan knock off, which I hope will never see the light of day again. I may even burn it someday if I ever get rich and famous. Fast forward to about 2009. I wanted to write about some current events, and a what-if scenario popped into my head, and my 'Blood of Patriots' novel in-the-making started pushing its way out of my finger tips. I worked on about 5 chapters, then lost focus and put it away. About 3 months ago, one of my employees, who is a writer here, told me about this place and encouraged me to get back at it. 'Blood of Patriots' is now up to 11 chapters, and probably somewhere around 35,000 words. Now, I'm dabbling in some fantasy, the continuing adventures of Allotrope the Dragon seem to be bouncing around my head (again, many thanks to Greg!) But, be warned. If you start reading Allotrope's adventures, don't blame me if tidbits from a certain English comedy troupe start prancing through your head. And maybe the odd song as well. I blame my parents. Well, TTFN, I feel the urge to spew some more words out of my finger tips! Mike |
