Received this "review", and I use the word with some distaste... "Hello. I was brought to your lovely story by way of the children's story contest page. My first impression of the piece is that it brings together two children Who are both from other stories. Alice from Alice in Wonderland is a character that some might say suffers from hallucinations. Christopher from Winnie the Pooh probably also suffers from hallucinations. I liked the use of the terms Heffalump and Jabberwock. Though I feel neither of them looks similar at all. Maybe Alice and Christopher see it as they want to see it. From within their own confines… Their own story. I also enjoy how you bring these two very different children stories together by way of the dragon. The part about the onions making fire is quite a stretch in reality and definitely keeps this story in fantasy. I think the onlypart of the story that roots it in somewhat of a reality is the Butler. But then at the end even he succumbs to his own childhood fantasy world just like Alice. The Dragon at first is apprehensive with the children as they keep laughing at him but then he quickly gives in and tells them his secret. I feel this is a little bit of a stretch in any kind of character beginning to trust another character so quickly. Despite all that, the flow the story is very nice. It reads well. And I would have to expect the authors of Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland to either be impressed or threatened by your skills. All in all, I enjoyed the story. But since I don't completely think it's perfect… Four stars. Thank you for the opportunity to read your work." Given by: "Review by Anonymous Reviewer In affiliation with WDC Power Reviewers Group" Apart from the reviewer obviously not getting the "children's story" and "fantasy" and "nonsense" part, but hey, thanks for the "pat on the back hiding the knife to the ribs" and the 4 stars. I'm not griping about this person's obvious attempt to get me to write the story he/she wanted me to write, but rather this: 1) Anonymous review by some attached to the PRG 2) this: My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" Seriously, What the *bleep*? Anyway, thanks for reading my little rant, I'm going to go write about 3K words now. "Not completely perfect" bite me "anonymous" |
