Hello, artinum. Great topic. I haven't read any of the replies so if I double cover something, I apologize. I struggled with this for a long time. I would jot down notes when those moments of inspiration would strike and keep all those notes in a box. I had a hard time getting started and/or expounding on the notes and actually sitting down to write. My moment of clarity came last year. A friend of mine called me and during the conversation he asked "So, what have you been writing lately?" At that time, I hadn't written anything in weeks - so that's what I told him. He said "You are a writer, you should be writing everyday regardless of how you feel. Write, write, write, and rewrite - this is how you get better at the craft." At that moment, I realized that if I want to expand and continually grow in terms of writing, it's something that needs to be in the same category as sleeping and eating. It must be viewed this way. Even if you only write for 15 minutes per day. Keep writing. Don't stop. If you have writers block or you can't think of anything as you're sitting down to write - pick up a book written by one of your most inspirational authors. I have found that reading often sparks something up. Don't want to get too long-winded here. If you want to chat, send an email or IM. All the best to you. Write on, my friend. ![]() ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
