Since its my first entry here, i thought a good means of introduction might be to write about my all time three favorites films. Let me start with t simple statement: I LOVE MOVIES! Now on to the three: First and most highly favored: Yankee Doodle Dandy (James Cagney) is a musical based upon the real life of the writer/composer/actor George M. Cohan. It takes entertaining poetic license with his real life story, but Cagney and the show tunes, mostly American Standards, like, uh, Yankee doodle Dandy, Over There, Mary, Give My Regards to Broadway, and more, make it a worthwhile bit of sing-along fun. Second most highly favored: Singing' in the Rain (Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor) is a musical based on the real life experiences the hollywood industry faced when talkies hit the scene and disrupted studios, careers, financiers, and entertainment in general. Singing in the Rain boasts some of the best comedic sing-along songs ever written for a musical and the most iconic dance number ever produced. I challenge anyone to view this film and NOT sing one of its melodies afterwards. . . for days. Third most highly favored: The Sound of Music (Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer} is a musical based on the real life experiences of the Von Trapp family in Vienna during the Nazi occupation. If you're not familiar with this film, you do not belong on this - or any forum - where movies are discussed. o you can see, I like real life, History, and musicals. I also enjoy dramas, comedies, mysteries, thrillers, and fantasy. But this is a good start, no? Carol I write because I am a better person when I spend a good chunk of my time with people who only exist because I made them up." -- Leslie Budewitz Be Sure to Check Out:
