I read your initial post and your reply to the people who replied.
I have often felt the same way about some of what I've written after getting some very negative reviews... but then, I get positive reviews, as well for the same piece saying the complete opposite from what the other person/people said. I understand how conflicting reading feedbacks can be. I can empathize with your struggle with self-doubt despite knowing that you cannot please everybody, and that not everybody will get what you want conveyed. It's hard when your biggest critic is yourself. The moment you realize that their criticisms ring true, but you don't know what to do to incorporate the changes that need to be done in your work... I'm sure it makes you feel like crying. (At least, I have... cried myself to sleep, that is, berating myself for having no talent whatsoever when it comes to writing.)
With all that said, I also admire you for never giving up on your writing and I can see that you really want to improve not only for your readers but also for yourself and for your character(s) development.
Sorry if I can't really offer any advice. But the replies to your post and you sharing your experience have helped me, as well... regarding my similar feelings about rejection. So, I'll be rooting you! And I hope you reach the fullest potential you aspire as a writer.
