October Novel Prep Challenge

Okay, so. I spent all of yesterday working on my character profile. Last night and this morning I've been thinking of a story to write for the contest today. In doing this, I've had a new idea for my novel that I like much better than my first. It's different, exciting and it's got me thinking YES!

But it means re-writing my character profile, re-thinking a whole new plot and abandoning my safe idea. But I really like it, I think I could go further with this idea. Would I be crazy to change everything three days into the prep? Help!
