Brainstorming Tips

Is it just me or does anyone else have trouble with brainstorming? It's supposed to be really easy and a great way to get your muse going and everything flowing, but if I only spent 15 minutes on the brain storm like the assignment says I'd only have two things written down! I think the black page scares me. Anyone got any tips on it?
