That shouldn't hinder you. If you believe it so will your readers that's all. Suspending disbelief is fairly easy in sci-fi and fantasy. It's horror where it gets harder. People are naturally inclined to dismiss the things that go bump in the night. Living with Fae around you that your not aware of or having people go to Pluto to set up a base to use to launch us to Alpha Centari... These things people can believe because no one ever really asks if they believe its real just if they believe if its possible.

No natural disbelief to overcome the easier it is for them to suspend it.
