Hey there Seller, Another thought is that "sympathetic magic" is coming into wider popularity. Interesting, I think it might have something to do with quantum mechanics and scientific observations of quantum entanglement. However the magical school is not new. An example of symathetic magic is the popular notion of voodoo dolls where you abuse the linked doll (usually having hair or nailclippings or something that ties the doll to the person) and the effect hits the linked person, poke needles into the doll head for a headache, dangle the dolls feet over the candle for foot pain, etc. So, this sympathetic magic has a fairly long history. In ancient religion people would sacrifice objects that related to their desire. Throw a sword in the lake for help in battle, a shield for protection, and in the Bible the Philistines cast tribute gold in the form of rats and hemoroids that they sent back with the Arc of the Covenant because they were plagued by rats and other pains in the ass that they felt were related to them taking the arc. It seems to have worked though God knew what he was doing to the Philistines and didn't need the reminder. Perhaps too much information, but there it is, sympathetic magic. LSO |
