To add a little more to what Tiggy - Happy Birthday, WdC! Author Icon, Storm Machine Author Icon and pinkbarbie said, 50 K in a document is about 7500 words. Of course, that really depends on a number of things--the length of words and the number of special characters, such as dashes and the like. But it should give you a good idea when writing longer stories.
