Noticing Newbies

Hello! My name is Katie and I am from a tee tiny town in Louisiana, but I have lived all over the state. I am your average small town country girl. I grew up riding four-wheelers, hunting, fishing, gardening, playing in the mud, and cheerleading. I have two younger siblings, a sister and a brother.

We always had loads of pets growing up, and I think that fostered my deep love for animals, so now I anesthetize them as my day job. I have worked on many different species of animals: cats, dogs, horses, cows, pigs, goats, rabbits, turtles, chinchillas, and even a baby giraffe! It is a very stressful, demanding job, but it can also be rewarding. The main thing that I don't like about my job is that it takes me away from my family so much.

Speaking of family, I have been married to my husband for 5 1/2 years. We were best friends in college. In fact, it seems like everyone knew we were supposed to be together before we did! I can not tell you how many different people asked us if we were "together" while we were friends. It took some of the joy out of announcing when we finally were dating because the general reaction we got was, "It's about time!"

We have two GORGEOUS little boys (5 years and 3 years old). They are both brilliant little angels. Okay, so they aren't always angels.. and they do a lot of things that aren't exactly brilliant, BUT they are both really sweet kids and very smart, too.

I used to write a good bit of poetry whenever I was in high school, but I was very picky about who I shared it with because it was so personal to me. I haven't written in many years. I don't really have the inspiration to write it anymore. I used to keep a journal up until I got married, but it was full of very personal things that I never wanted others to know. I always swore that I would bury or burn them because the secrets I kept in them were what my teenage self considered to be so dark. What I would like to do now is write books (or even stories) but I have no idea how to organize myself enough to do something like that. I also don't really know what to write about. I have long ago decided that my life isn't nearly exciting enough to be inspired by.

I am looking forward to looking around on Writing.com and trying to find what I am looking for (but I'm not even sure what that is right now!)
