Welcome to Writing.Com, Jacque. You've raised some pertinent issues in your greeting to us. I don't want to belittle them but I hope I can make you feel a little more secure in knowing many of us have struggled with these same things. I used to post my work on another site many years before I joined WDC. I received a couple (only a couple) bad reviews of a story I really liked. The result? I stopped writing for almost three years. Period. Finally I couldn't NOT write, and started up again, determined to grow a thicker skin. After all, I was expressing my own thoughts--no one else has the thoughts and dreams that you have. And only you can express them your way. Don't forget that. You can usually take something away from a review that will help you. Leave the rest where it lies. WDC is a pretty complex site. Just take things one step at a time--poke your head into any nook or cranny that sparks your interest. After awhile, you'll become comfortable with the site. And never be afraid to ask for help. We've ALL been where you are now, and we're a very helpful bunch. I love your cabin dream, and wish you the very best on your writing and life's journey. Oh yeah, try and fill out your Bio-Block soon. It's the best way for other members to get to know you and start that net-working with fellow writers. ![]() Dont forget: Click here http://www.writing.com/main/my_account.php?action=ea_form&type=newsletters to subscribe to our official WDC newsletters, especially the Noticing Newbies NL. ![]() |
