Hi, Reggie. The best way to start to write is to sit down at your computer and start putting the words down. That is how I started anyway. Lots of people are into different types of creatures. Vampires have always been popular and now days it seems to be zombies leading the pack. I've always preferred werewolves. I started writing about them. After I wrote about 20,000 words on my first werewolf book, I went back are read what I wrote. My opinion, it was a pile of $#!+. I rewrote it. Then rewrote it again. Then I read it once more. Still $#!+, but it did not smell as bad. Now I have a half dozen wolf books and working on others. Thing is, few people write a masterpiece first time out of the gate. It takes much revision and work. The way to start is to start. If you have an idea, put it on paper. At first you may not like what you do, but remember this is a work in progress. Polish it and keep at it. Once you have what you believe to be a good work, put it out for reviews. Take the good suggestions and rewrite again. Eventually you will have a good item. Just do not give up. |
