A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
I’m not really a writer. I’m a software developer of software you will likely never use and a grad student at a university that specializes in making smart people feel like idiots. I’m actually posting here because I will have finished my 10 free psychotherapy sessions this Friday, and I’ve only just begun scratching the surface of my many character flaws. So, I’m looking for a suitable replacement. My logic is that psychotherapy is a lot like me simply talking about myself, and talking about myself is a lot like writing about myself, and writing about myself is a lot like what authors do. So in a way my mental anguish is a lot like someone else's career, which begs the timeless software engineers question - Is it a feature or a bug? If I can convince either you or myself that it’s a feature, then thats +1 career and -1 mental disease, which would really be a win win for me. So, that’s my current situation. I apologize for using you in this way, but I appreciate your attention. Incidentally, I’m also keen on improving my writing style. I want to be a simple, clear, and compelling writer, so I look forward to receiving criticism. |
