Do not despair. Even iambic meter takes a lot of practice to master, and you have chosen one of the most difficult in Cretic meter to maintain over such a long stretch. Since scanning is a little easier than writing, I taught workshops in writing iambic meter for two years before I actually sat down and wrote a poem in meter myself.
