Funny you should mention OJ. Being a big fan of the "Naked Gun" movie series (in which OJ contributed as an actor) I thought he was hilarious prior to the murders, and I don't find myself laughing any less since. I watch most movies to be entertained, and I become immersed in the film, not the people.
I've always felt that if we knew the private lives of most of the folks we look up/admire/find entertaining to we'd be in for a very rude awakening. Kind of like, if you knew what went on in the kitchens of most restaurants, you'd never go out for dinner again.
The point is, everyone has "baggage" to a degree; there are very few saints out there. Plus, if I start to do background checks on everyone who somehow impacts my (or my family's) life, that is going to take a heck of a lot of fun out of things...
