I thought of this question because of the recent "moral dilemma" discussion in this forum.
It seems to me that we can make one of those proverbial "two kinds of people" distinctions about this.
The "fan" person admires the artist and will watch, listen, or read anything the artist produces.
The "work" person admires the work and is not really all that interested in who created it. In fact, that might be the only work of that artist that they do admire.
As a result of this distinction, if the artist commits some nefarious crime, then the "fan" person is devastated, but the "work" person just shrugs and says, "Nobody is perfect."
