Writing Forum

Currently, I'm focusing on improving my prose. Therefore I would like ask for suggestion on books to reads, either writing books describing the elements of good sentence level writing or fiction books which in your opinion have great prose (whether it's speculative fiction or not doesn't matter).

I've started reading Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, thinking that one of the most famous works by a Nobel prize laureate would have outstanding prose, but I've so far been a bit disappointed.
