If I follow, you're suggesting checkboxes that one can check and uncheck that would keep track of whether they were checked or not?
It's a nifty concept that I've considered in the past. The issue that I ran into, and would still run into, is that each checkbox actually needs it's own unique ID that a user would have to assign or have auto-assigned... IE, you could not just do a simple {checkbox} WritingML because it would need a specific ID in order to track it's checked-ness. That makes it a bit more complicated from a coding, implementation and also user usage perspective.
