That is a thought. Law and tradition is part of it, but not the whole of it. And even if that were the only part, then how would the law (or tradition) introduce itself? That boggles my mind. You see, for my world the elves really are born with a knowledge of what they are given to do in life. It's not just tradition which keeps them from changing what they know, it's what they already know in their genetic makeup.
