October Novel Prep Challenge

Sometimes my free writes take a turn. But often I do more of a brainstorm, like list a bunch of conflicts. My current one looks like a diagram blossoming from the middle of my paper. It can be very freeing to allow that kind of creativity. It doesn't have to be sitting in front of a blank page and saying that you'll freely write whatever comes to mind.
