At the same time it isn't a sexist thing. You can't expect a heterosexual queen to take as her consort a female just because she would have inherited the position had she been a male. That doesn't change the fact that Maurelle mother took it as a personal affront to the family. I will give her credit for not taking it out on her daughter that she wasn't a boy, but still. Disappointment in life happens. Had she had a younger brother the brother would be the consort but she was an only child. Would she have killed her brother because it was suppose to be hers because she was the first born but a girl?
