I judge a story hard core by its antagonist.

Protagonists are easy to make. Making a believable antagonist is tricky.

Making one that's relatable and intriguing, even trickier.

To make a really good antagonist, you should be able to flip the story over (antagonist becomes protagonist, etc.) and still have a story worth reading.
